The new regulation on driving and rest times for transporters of goods on Spanish roads will be in force until 31 May.

To avoid confusion, we at Andamur will explain the new regulation, which must be taken into account by all truck drivers,  from now on

1-Daily driving – A maximum of 11 hours per day is established. Driving breaks must be every 4.5 hours and mandatory daily breaks are set at 9 consecutive hours of driving (instead of 11).

2- Weekly rest – It is established that every four weeks at least two normal weekly rests of 45 hours must be taken, and consequently the other two reduced rests of 24 hours may be taken, either in continuous or alternate weeks, and without the need to compensate for the reduction not taken.

Furthermore, it is maintained that whatever the length of the rest, it may in any case be taken on board the vehicle provided that it is adequately equipped and the vehicle is parked.

3- Limit on weekly and bi-weekly driving hours – The obligation to carry out a maximum of 56 hours of driving per week and 90 hours per two-week period continues.

In Andamur our duty as a company is to collaborate with society in the face of a crisis like the one we are suffering today. Under this commitment we have donated 9,600 masks to the reference hospitals in the communities where the Andamur Service Areas are located.

Hospital La Inmaculada de Huércal- Overa (Almería), Hospital Universitario San Agustín de Linares (Jaén), Hospital de Figueras (Gerona), Hospital de Txagorritxu de Vitoria-Gasteiz (Álava), Hospital Virgen del Camino de Pamplona (Navarra) and Hospital Rafael Méndez de Lorca (Murcia).

This social commitment action is part of our CSR plan “Cuidamos lo que Importa” (We care for what matters) with which we intend to give back to society part of what it gives to us. We know that it is critical and essential material for them at this time, so it becomes an essential action.

Since the beginning of this health crisis, in Andamur we have promoted in the most effective way all our services, both in our own Service Areas and in our Associated Service Stations. All the updated information can be found in our news section Andamur Today.

Being aware of the situation in which we find ourselves, we want to transmit a special message of support to all citizens, in general and to all health personnel, truck drivers and companies in the sector in particular, for their responsibility, solidarity and commitment in these days.

Together we will get through!

In Andamur the security and health is the first thing, for that reason we put at the disposal of our clients masks and hydroalcoholic gels. They are available in all our Service Areas free of charge, while stocks last, for all those professional transporters who request them during these days.

Since the beginning of this sanitary crisis, in Andamur we have adopted the necessary measures that have been indicated by the authorities, optimizing in the most efficient way all our services, so important these days for the professional drivers. The services active both in our own Service Areas and in our Associated Service Stations can be consulted here.

We are aware that we are facing a situation of enormous complexity for everyone, but with values such as Responsibility, Solidarity and Commitment, we are convinced that we will succeed.

Now more than ever, Every Trip Matters!

The transport sector is one of the most exposed and necessary during this crisis and hygiene and disinfection are vital for the safety of the driver.

First of all, we must know the difference between cleaning and disinfection, both of which are necessary and complementary. Cleaning helps with the elimination of germs, but does not mean their complete elimination, but focuses more on getting rid of visible dirt. On the other hand, disinfection, due to the type of products used, does allow for the elimination of any type of fungus, germ or virus, although it does not necessarily eliminate visible dirt.

Thus, when it comes to disinfecting the truck, it is not enough to clean it as usual, but after a thorough cleaning, a good disinfection must be carried out with specific products (alcohol, bleach, special cleaners) with special concentration on the steering wheel, the gear lever, the interior handles to open the doors, the coasters, the seat belts and the controls on the steering wheel, audios and screens. These are the parts of the truck with which you interact the most and therefore the most bacteria can be contained.

In addition, you must bear in mind that when you clean your cabin, you will find different surfaces and it will not be possible to use the same product for all of them if you do not want to end up damaging them. Microfiber towels, brushes, cleaners, disinfectants are some of the materials needed to carry out a successful disinfection. However, always using the necessary protection to avoid burning your skin or inhaling chemicals.

To go deeper, we share with you this video from Ammo NYC in which they show us how to carry out the disinfection process of our vehicle.

We are facing a difficult situation, but if we maintain values of Responsibility, Solidarity and Commitment, we will make it through even more strengthen. In Andamur, we have set in a series of contingency plans that will grant the supply to all our clients, always putting safety as our number one priority.

This health alert is challenging everyone and now is the moment to give the best of ourselves. Now more than ever Every Journey Matters and remember, Together We Will Make It Through!

The driver’s profession has been seen as male’s job for years, but according to new data collected by the European Commission Women in Transport-EU Platform for Change, women represent the 22% of the workforce in the European transportation field. And every time, there are more women choosing this job.

In Andamur we wanted to know in detail some of their stories. Why they like the truck, how were their beginnings and what complications they might have found. In this sense, we have created a short series of three chapters named Women Truckers where we can get to know the stories of Cruz Fuentes, Vanessa Almagro and Luz Seller.

Under the slogan “Strong, Capable, Truckers: WOMEN”, we will spend all week honouring women in the professional transportation field. Likewise, from March the 2nd, we have installed boards in all our stations giving name and voice to our series three protagonists. An action that will be replicated in our social media with more women truckers vindicating the role of women as truckers.

In addition, during International Women’s Day, all women truckers visiting our facilities will get a free menu for lunch in any of our stations.

All these activities carried out in commemoration of International Women’s Day are enrolled within our campaign Every Trip Matters in which we focus on what really matters to those who spend their life on the road. And this week, especially, we focus on women.

Experience, Quality and Innovation at the Service of the Portuguese Transportation Field

To Andamur, Spain is the market we have always worked in since our beginnings, where the keys of our business are. In 2020, we want to go beyond our frontiers and so, we have started to be present in other countries that are strategic to international transportation. We believe that our experience, an exhaustive selection of local professionals and a deep knowledge of the sector needs are the perfect combination to be transferred to other markets. In this sense, Portugal is our first destiny and our objective is to continue expanding in the coming years through the internationalisation of our services and products.

Andamur arrives to offer a great experience to the Portuguese transportation companies with the goal of bringing a bigger profit and security to our clients’ business by implementing demanding quality standards.

We present a safe value with personalised proposals that are adapted to our client’s specific needs. Our broad products and services range such as fuel cards, toll devices and taxes recovery management allow us to be agile and flexible to each of the transportation field companies. For this reason, we count on a specialised team and our own office located in Coimbra’s city centre.

Andamur has a presence in the main Portuguese professional transportation route to Europe going through Irún since Andamur Araia and Andamur Pamplona Service Stations are located in this itinerary.

In Andamur, we provide innovation to our clients to achieve a better efficiency. Likewise, Andamur airCODE is the only system in the transportation market that grants total safety in the refuelling and also has been recognised by AENOR as such.

Ultimately, Andamur is an innovative company in constant evolution that puts its experience in this sector at the service of new markets.
